MAMAIA
Largest tourist resort in Romania (6-8 m altitude, 3 km) north of Constanta, called "The Pearl of the Black Sea"), it is placed on a stripe of sand caught between the Black Sea in the east and by the sweet waters of Lake Siutghiol in the west. The first facility dates from 1906-1919, the spa being today one of the most beautiful sea resorts in Europe.
Due to its excellent location the resort is permanently recieving night and day sea breezes, blowing either from the sea or from the lake. During the season the sun shines for 10-12 hours every day.
The beach of the resort, which could compete with the famous ones of Cannes or Saint Tropez from the Cote d'Azur, is coverd with a very fine sand, streching over 8 km in length and 100-200 m in width. this unique beach is scattered with elegant hotels, sport grounds, open pools, discos, leisure parks, summer theatre etc. There are numerous possibilities for water sports, for learning yachting or swimming or for fishing in the Mamaia lake etc.
This charming resort, full of sun and gentle perfume of flowers, caressed by waves and animated by a lively atmosphere gathers every summer thousands of tourists from all over the world.
