VINTU DE JOS Ruins

Located near Sebes, it stands for the Transylvanian Renaissance style; built on the place of a former Dominican monastery (14th c.) by Transylvania's governor Gyorgy Martinuzzi; rebuilt by Gabriel Bethlen (prince of Transylvania in 1613 and king of Hungary between 1620-1624); the impressive ruins of the old castle would be associated with the ghastly stories devised by the locals about Austrian Empress Maria Teresa's love affairs and subsequent violent murder of her lovers.
